Zlatorudné mlýny gold mills and the Poštovní štola adit
From the Údolí ztracených štol car park on the Zlaté Hory – Ondřejovice road 600 m along the Olešnice stream to the open-air museum: a guided tour of the mining settlement and the water-powered gold-ore mills (400 m apart), gold panning with a borrowed pan. Then along the Údolí ztracených štol (Valley of the Lost Adits) nature trail (2 km, panels on mining, a millrace with the “optical illusion” of water flowing uphill) and back the same way. A wide road through the valley, pushchair OK.
From the information centre in Zlaté Hory along the Zlaté Hory mining educational trail (red local marking, shared with the blue-marked trail) up Zámecký vrch to the ruins of Edelštejn castle (690 m, one of the largest castles in Silesia) and to the Výrův kámen viewpoint (740 m); along marked forest tracks and a cycle route down into the Olešnice valley to the Zlatorudné mlýny gold-ore mills and along the green-marked trail along the stream back to the town. Add the Poštovní štola mine gallery (6 km to the south, guided tours) by car.
