Tips

• The only refreshment stop – Between the saddle and Praděd, Švýcárna is the only mountain hut; in season it tends to be full. Bring water from home.
• The blue trail back is muddy – The return via Kamzík and Skalní tabule leads in places through bog on stone stepping blocks – sturdy waterproof boots. Without them, go back along the red-marked trail.
• Crowds on Praděd – At weekends the summit is crowded with hikers and bikers from Ovčárna; the nicest views are already from Velký Klínovec and from Malý Děd.
• For the fit only – The whole loop is over 20 km with 900 m of elevation gain – set off early in the morning and keep an eye on the weather, the ridge is exposed.
• By bike – By bike only on marked cycle routes (Praděd national nature reserve), not on footpaths; the descent back to the saddle is along the main road.
• Parking – Červenohorské sedlo (paid in season)
• Shuttle bus – line 122 ARRIVA Šumperk – Loučná n. D. – Kouty – Červenohorské sedlo – Jeseník (approx. 6× daily)
