Tips

  • Skřítek gnome statue – By the large car park stands the wooden Skřítek (gnome) by sculptor Jiří Jílek from Sobotín – a favourite photo spot with children before you set off.
  • To Rabštejn with children from Bedřichov – The shortest route to the ruin starts in Bedřichov (4.5 km, +300 m); climbers practise on the rocks by the castle, so hold children's hands at the viewpoints.
  • Wet even in summer – The peat bog holds water – expect mud on the edge paths; waterproof boots are useful even in July.
  • Continuing along the ridge – Od Ztracených kamenů vede zelená (a s ní NS Světem horských luk) dál přes Pecný a Břidličnou horu na Jelení studánku (dalších cca 4 km) – viz výlet jeleni-studanka-vernirovice.
  • Parking – free at the Skřítek roadside restaurant, fills up quickly in season
  • Restrictions – Rašeliniště Skřítek national nature reserve (165 ha, since 1955) – entry prohibited, the marked trails run only along the edge; you can see the peat bog from the path
