Tips

  • Turnstile – Entry is self-service for 50 Kč – coins or card; bring change to be safe. Polish złoty are not accepted.
  • The easiest route – Drive to the Petrovy boudy saddle, from there it's just 2 km along the green trail on a forest track – ideal with younger children.
  • One foot in Poland – The tower stands right on the state border; on the way you pass boundary stones. The view stretches over the Polish lowlands as far as the Opole power station and Wrocław.
  • Zlaté Hory – Combine with the Zlatorudné mlýny (open-air museum) or the Poštovní štola adit – both are run by the same organisation, so do them in one day.
  • Weather and webcam – In rain, fog or strong wind the lookout tower is closed; the webcam at krajpokladu.cz shows the current conditions.
  • Season – year-round (May–September daily, otherwise mainly weekends; closed in bad weather).
  • Opening hours – January–March Sat–Sun 10–15; April Sat–Sun 10–16; May–September daily 10–18; October daily 10–16; November Tue–Sun 10–15; December Sat–Sun 10–15 (in fine weather also on weekdays); closed in bad weather; the operator reserves the right to make changes
